Why
He left because waiting was the bottleneck.
Agents made the toolchain the critical path. Each language still means a manager, a lockfile, and an index on the other side of the network. He wrote rusty so resolve, lock, and fetch sit in one binary. Fetch never shells out to cargo. On Linux x64 with Btrfs that client is about 100× cargo. That is not a rustc claim.

chained.tools is that install plane, inside iResolved. rusty, pyppi, hasky, worgo, and scripty share one store and one auth. Registries sit next to that store. gbrowse keeps the glass on the laptop. agentpass keeps the secret out of the model. linup puts PowerToys-style utilities on Linux in one GTK app.
